OVERVIEW
Keeping up to date is essential for evidence-based practice and patient safety.
It is usually a requirement for continuing professional accreditation (CPD).
It can also be helpful to keep you engaged and curious about your chosen field.
Keeping up to date may also prompt you to undertake your research to contribute to the knowledge base.
It can be done in various ways to suit you and the time available:
- You can set up alerts so you can read the latest issues of key journals as they are published
- You can set up database alerts on articles on a specific topic or author
- Review publications such as UpToDate and the Research Reviews home page will summarise information for you
- Newsfeeds such as the ones from the Conversation can bring topical, current information to you
- The District Library Service - MNCLHD publishes lists of new books and other resources added to the collection
